Been a long time gone...

Sat May 23, 2009, 12:23 PM
wow, I definitely haven't been on this site in a million years. Okay, so more like a few months. Anyway, I'm doing alright. I graduated from college in December and I'm living at home for right now. I'm working at a day care, taking care of cute little babies every day. It's a pretty good job :-) Hoping to head to Cambodia in the next year!

My sister has always been into the show "Heroes", but I never got to watch it. I never had time for it when I was in college, and I always watched other things on Monday nights. I always thought I would like it because I love comic book hero type stuff, and I love Milo Ventimiglia who plays Peter in the show. So long story short, Kara rented the first 6 episodes from Blockbuster the other night and we watched them. I LOVE IT!!!!! We're planning on catching up on them over the summer, hopefully.

Here are a few movie recommendations of what I've seen in the last few months...

Star Trek -FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!! I'm still waiting to see it again. It is so worth a movie ticket. Trust me. Zachary Quinto (Sylar from the show "Heroes") does an excellent job as Spock. The entire cast, script, plot, effects are just all around fantastic.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Very, very impressive. The story line is a bit choppy, but if you like X-men, and especially if you like Wolverine (my all time favorite!) you will like it. Special props to Liev Schrieber as Creed. He is an actor I have had immense respect for for a long time, and he is great in this movie! I also enjoyed the introduction of Gambit. Louisiana accents are my favorite yo.

Slumdog Millionaire -Oscar winning movie of 2008...and trust me, it deserved it! This movie had me on the edge of my seat, crying, laughing, rooting on the underdog...or should I say, slumdog. Dev Patel is very endearing. The kids who play the characters when they are little are absolutely adorable...and also great actors!

Last Chance Harvey -A quiet, subtle romantic dramedy starring Dusting Hoffman and Emma Thompson. Not a blockbuster hit, but definitely worth seeing. Dustin Hoffman is one of my favorite actors of all time, and he is incredible in this. He and Emma Thompson are fantastic together. It reminds me somewhat of Dan in Real Life and No Reservations...two other excellent, but non-flashy romantic dramedies.

The only dumb question is the one not asked.

Is the cup half full or half empty?: The cup is completely full, half of it is just air. But both air and water are required to survive.
